This is the concert that really shows off the brilliant singers of the LA Master Chorale and the one they most look forward to. You may have heard the sublime Mass for Double Choir, but until you’ve heard it by this chorus in this Hall, you simply haven’t experienced it. The prolific and dazzlingly articulate NY composer Nico Muhly takes the purity of the Anglican tradition of choral music and gives it a modern up-to-the-minute twists – very reverent, yet contemporary. Just “Google” him to see why he’s one of the hottest composers on the scene today. Le cantique des cantiques, all love poetry from the Song of Songs, is sensuous, gorgeous and all a cappella. This is evocative music with rich, luxurious harmonies. It’s almost a cappella because you will also be treated to the famous Disney Hall Pipe Organ in works by Muhly and O’Regan.
