Hallelujah! Los Angeles Master Chorale Offers Two Performances of Messiah Sing-Along Conducted by Music Director Grant Gershon

Monday, December 11, 7:30 p.m., and Monday, December 18, 7:30 p.m., at Walt Disney Concert Hall

Due to popular demand, the Los Angeles Master Chorale expands its wildly successful Messiah Sing-Along franchise to two performances on Monday, December 11, 2006, at 7:30 p.m., and Monday, December 18, 2006, at 7:30 p.m., at Walt Disney Concert Hall. For those two consecutive Mondays, the Chorale singers themselves take the night off while the public rules Disney Hall’s “airwaves” as Music Director Grant Gershon conducts the audience in sections of the beloved work, including the universally recognized “Hallelujah Chorus.” The LA Weekly chimes in “(the Chorale’s Messiah) is rated by sing-along groupies as the highlight of the holiday season.”

A quartet of singers from the Chorale provides plenty of polish to the solo roles so skillfully composed by George Frideric Handel. Soloists for the first performance on December 11 are Tania Batson, soprano; Amy Fogerson, alto; Daniel Chaney, tenor; and Michael Freed, bass. Soloists for December 18 include Ayana Haviv, soprano; Sarona Farrell, alto; Sal Malaki, tenor; and Steve Pence, bass. William Beck is the guest organist.

The Los Angeles Master Chorale presented its first Messiah Sing-Along 26 years ago, helping to pioneer the format. An unqualified success since the beginning, the Chorale has made the event an annual holiday tradition. Scores of would-be singers from across the Southland – and those happy to simply observe – converge on Disney Hall to belt out what is no doubt one of the greatest hits of all times.

Tickets range from $19 - $64. Group rates are available. Messiah scores are available for purchase at the door for $10.
