“Oh come, all ye faithful Los Angeles Master Chorale fans to Rejoice, [the] annual holiday concert” says L.A.Weekly. We happily second the motion!
Celebrate the grand finale of our multi-year presentation of Johann Sebastian Bach’s beloved six-part Christmas Oratorio. Written for the Feast of the Epiphany, wise men follow a star to the new-born Child as Bach ends his Christmas story with the most celebratory and festive of the six cantatas. Music director Grant Gershon and the L.A. Master Chorale send the Baroque’s Main Man off in spectacular style — trumpets blaring, drums pounding and a joyful chorus in full cry for the final triumphant message. This is one farewell party you won’t want to miss.
Then we’ll treat the Hall’s famed acoustics to a sleigh full of yuletide favorites. Revisiting Christmas past, the Chorale will sing Old World classics and carols, then fast-forward to contemporary holiday pop tunes. We’ll mix it up with folk songs and spirituals, throw in some jazz and wind up with a sing-a-long.
Glad tidings to all from the L.A. Master Chorale!
