Let’s celebrate. The Disney Concert Hall is a festive sight to behold. The mighty pipe organ is ready to roll. All that’s left is to light the candles. Music Director Grant Gershon and our joyful chorus welcome you to L.A.’s merriest holiday get-together.
First, greet our celebrated guest of honor, Johann Sebastian Bach. Bask in the radiance of the light as we perform the joyous 5th cantata from Bach’s incomparable Christmas Oratorio. When the Chorale sang the 4th cantata last season, the Beverly Hills Outlook hailed, “Bach that danced and rejoiced, played games with echoes and stirred the soul with intensity...Bach lives again!”
Next, holiday music from two contemporary American composers. Called “...a bright, fluent inventor with a ready lyric gift” (The New Yorker), Stephen Paulus celebrates the season with Christmas Tidings: Five Carols. Enjoy a special holiday treat as the LA Master Chorale presents the world premiere of Tony® Award-winning composer Jason Robert Brown’s Chanukah Suite.
Taking full advantage of the Hall’s sparkling acoustics, we’ll sing the yuletide music at the top of your wish list — from Old World classics and carols to folk songs, spirituals, pop tunes and jazz. Season’s greetings to all!
